In 1969, Marion Nixson and her family moved to Beverly Springs Station, a remote cattle station in the Kimberley Region. They were to stay for twelve years. This book records her life, bringing up her five children on the station.

Now Charnley River–Artesian Range Wildlife Sanctuary, it is located 43km off Gibb River Road, halfway between Bell Gorge and Manning Gorge.
