The Ferguson family was associated with Swan Location 11, that property commonly known as Houghton, from 1859-1966. Houghton was subdivided in 1950 and the vineyard and cellar was sold to Valencia Vineyards Pty Ltd.
The authors seeks to update previous histories of the area. In doing so, they provide explanation and comment on the system of obtaining land in the Swan River Colony and how it affected settlers and properties in the Upper Swan Area.
