An official exhibition catalogue published by the Council of the State Library of Victoria in 1989. Compiled by Brian L Merrill, the 60-page softcover publication served as the companion guide to a historical exhibition held at the library's Irving Benson Gallery from 4 October to 18 November 1989.
The volume was produced to mark the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Charles Joseph La Trobe (Victoria's first Lieutenant-Governor) to the Port Phillip District in 1839.
The exhibition catalogue includes colour plates, monochrome halftone plates, and black-and-white line drawings selected from the State Library of Victoria's permanent historical collections to accompany the biographical notes.
