The Bunbury Harbour Board was formed in July 1909. Its name changed to the Bunbury Port Authority in October 1967.

This book begins with a brief history of Bunbury Townsite and the original wooden jetty, built in 1864. The Bunbury Harbour story is told chronologically, with chapters devoted to each decade of the 20th Century.

The book's second part updates the original 1996 edition to bring it up to 2006.

The book is illustrated throughout.
