This is the biography of three generations of Eddie Wright's family.
In the early 1900s, aged four, Alfred Brown was taken from his mother in northern Queensland and placed in Mapoon Mission. As a young married man, employed by the Mission, he and his wife Ina, were sent to the Kimberley, Western Australia.
Following the death of his wife and in the face of great difficulties and hostile government policies, Alfred is able to keep his family together. Laurelle, Edie's mother, and her brothers grew up on Kunmunya Mission where Alfred skippered the Mission's lugger.
After raising her own family, and now a grandmother, Laurelle begins to trace and claim back her family's connection with the Kimberley coastal area and to re-establish family ties with her Cape York people.
