Book Description

Secondhand. Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges. Dust jacket has some light creasing at edges and spine. Interior and binding are also very good.

Originally published in 1904.

In 1837 the Petrie family settled in Brisbane, a village of about ten buildings. Their son Tom Petrie was brought up amongst the Aboriginals, learning their language and habits as one accepted into their circle.

These reminiscences, full of vivid people and happenings in early Brisbane, provide a readable, fascinating vision of the colonial life of Queensland, in particular of the Aboriginals seen through the eyes of one who was their friend. (book flap)

Some books contain terms that reflect the authors' views or those of the period in which the item was written or created but are not considered appropriate today. These views are not the views of The Book Merchant. These books are offensive to many and should be seen in their historical context.
