Secondhand. Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges. Interior and binding are still excellent.
The history of the Perth YMCA is in many respects a mirror of the much broader social plane spanning many generations. And an illuminating mirror it is too, like life itself and full of hope, vigour, faith and boundless optimism - when things have not worked out quite as they should.
Such are the threads that make Something Worthwhile a particularly absorbing book. As readers trace the course of this venerable institution from the embryonic London days of the 1840s through to its tentative emergence in Perth in 1869, they will be agreeably surprised at the sheer diversity of events that, combined, flesh out the YMCA.
In the 19th century, the YMCA in Perth held Bible readings, conducted street gospel meetings, engaged in mission work, and provided support during both world wars. In the 20th century, it was a member of a worldwide fellowship that was extensive and varied, covering sport, moral and physical fitness, leisure and recreation, life skills and development, with a strong emphasis on the family.
