In 1606, the little Dutch East India Company ship, Duyfken, came upon the coast of Cape York Peninsula. Its captain, Willem Jansz, went to his grave without knowing that his crew were the first Europeans to land on the shores of Australia, His chart lay undiscovered for many years.
Nearly four hundred years later, a small group of dedicated people set out to bring the Duyfken story back to life. They built a replica of the ship and investigated stories of the ship's adventures.
James Henderson was a driving force behind the group. In this book, Henderson recounts the fascinating career of the little ship and tells the story of the rebuilding of its replica. (back cover)
