To commemorate the centennial of the Rockingham Road Board establishment in 1897, a history of the area was commissioned by the then Town of Rockingham.
The book explores the harsh realities of life for Thomas Peel's entourage and other early settlers in the 1800s. Similar hardships were faced by ex-servicemen and their families who settled in the area under the Group Settlement Schemes of the 1920s and experienced the 1930s depression era.
