David Burn (1799?-1875) was a Scottish settler and writer. In 1842, Burn accompanied Sir John and Lady Jane Franklin on their expedition to the west coast of Tasmania.

This text was initially published in 1843 in The United Services Journal. George Mackaness published the text in 1955 with an introduction.

First published in 1955 as Volume 2 of the original series of Australian Historical Monographs. This reprint is Volume XVI of the new series of Australian Historical Monographs.
