William Hatfield's (1892-1969) memoir and exploration of Australia. Hatfield came to Australia in 1912 as a penniless boy, having worked his passage from England. He worked in a variety of occupations before becoming a writer. He worked for many years in the Northern Territory, Central Australia, and Queensland as a station hand, stockman, drover, cook, horse breaker, kangaroo shooter, seaman, miner, and timber worker.
