Alan Harris was born in 1897 in Katanning area of the Great Southern Region. He began farming in the Gnowangerup district in 1926. His autobiography was written in 1938, covering ten years of his farming life. He submitted the manuscript to several publishers but was rejected.
After his death, the manuscript was found in his belongings, with pages missing. This autobiography has been pieced together from Alan Harris' diaries and handwritten drafts. (Introduction)
