Captain Charles William Snook is a forgotten pioneer aviator of Western Australia who relentlessly endeavoured to bring commercial aviation to everyday Australians.
Serving his country during WWI, Snook was lucky to escape alive after being shot down mid-air in a dog fight, then spending months in a German POW camp. Despite all he endured, Snook went on to assist in the Second World War effort as Wing Commander in the Air Training Corps, preparing recruits for the RAAF.
He was also involved in several flying enterprises during the Depression, eventually founding Airlines (WA) Ltd, one of WA's most important airlines, operating for over twenty years. (back cover)
