Francis Bertrum Colquhoum AM (1909 - 2010), aged 14, was first employed in 1923 by Norman Brearley's Western Australian Airways. In 1934, he joined McRobertson Miller Aviation (MMA) as chief mechanic and became chief engineer as the MAA prospered.
Frank meticulously documented these early years of aviation in Western Australia. His story of those years takes us back more than 75 years. It is a tribute to those whose vision, improvisation and endurance overcame almost insurmountable odds to establish the nucleus of the airline industry we take for granted today. (Foreword)
