Olga Horak was only a teenager when German troops invaded Slovakia.
From transit camp to death camp, Olga and her mother struggled to survive. Shunted from Auschwitz, Trachtenberg to Belsen, Olga was reduced to skin and bones by the time the British troops arrived on 15 April 1945. Tragically Olga's mother dies on the day the camp is liberated.
Olga's recovery is long and slow, but eventually, she returns to Bratislava where she meets her husband. The couple emigrate to Australia to start a new life.
