Book Description
Secondhand. Very good condition. Minor wear to book edges and corners.
In writing about the history of the Victoria River district, it is impossible to avoid issues of past injustice. However, this book is meant to be a contribution towards reconciliation and does not focus solely on past wrongs. While the basic structure of social relations severely disadvantaged Aborigines for many decades, relations between blacks and whites were nevertheless complex and varied.
Through the medium of photographs, this book focuses on the shared history of the region and reveals aspects of European-Aboriginal history and sometimes Aboriginal-Chinese history often masked by dominant themes of the past. (Introduction)
