In 1995, the Midland Oral History Centennial project was initiated by the Shire of Swan and the Midland Centennial Committee. Eighteen people were interviewed, producing over fifty hours of recorded memories. They are from various social, economic and cultural backgrounds.

This book is a selection of extracts from these interviews. Accompanying the text is a selection of photographs and ephemera mainly loaned from the personal collections of the people interviewed. (Preface)
