This is the second book by Leita Bell on her family history. Her first book, Turner's Augusta, published in 1995, focused on her great-great-grandfather James Woodward Turner, who arrived in Western Australia with his family on the Warrior in May 1830.
Wide Sea, Wide Land is the story of James Woodward Turner's youngest son, James Augustus Turner. At the age of seventeen, James Augustus Turner sailed the family constructed schooner from, the Alpha, out of Flinders Bay bound for Adelaide and Mauritius.
