For much of South Australia's history, Methodism was practised by almost a quarter of the population. Measured in terms of church attendance and participation, it was an influential and widespread religious movement. In many rural areas. it was the dominant church.
The author has used published and manuscript sources to give a comprehensive survey of Methodism from 1836 to the formation of the Uniting Church in 1977. It is the first history of Methodism in South Australia written since 1886. Produced with the assistance of the South Australian Jubilee 150 Board. (back cover)
