This is the tale of the clipper ship Ticonderoga, which sailed from Liverpool to Australia in 1852. The ship was full of mostly Scottish emigrants escaping the Highland clearances and the potato famine.
The ship sailed into Port Phillip Bay three months later, flying the yellow contagion flag. On her harrowing voyage, Typhus had broken out.
